Chapter 991 - 421: Decadence and Carnage (Part 3)
This card can designate a target of golden quality, entering into a one-on-one special duel.
But for Eve’s current healing needs, this card is completely useless.
Cassandra’s mood began to grow extremely irritable, anxiety surging in her heart like a tide.
"Don’t panic... there should still be a chance... the divination result shouldn’t be wrong."
At this moment, she felt like a desperate gambler, forcibly comforting herself.
For the third draw, a silver light flashed.
The third card slowly appeared:
The silver frame was relatively simple, the card face pattern was a giant snake devouring its own tail.
Surrounded by various luxurious decorations and treasures, symbolizing an endless cycle of desire.
"Luxury" Power Card, silver quality.
This silver-quality card just matches Eve’s downgraded needs.
Cassandra let out a long sigh of relief, but immediately realized a more serious problem.
She now had three Power Cards accumulated:
A golden Luxury, a golden Slaughter, and a silver Luxury soon to be used for Eve.
According to the deadly rules of the Otherworld Treasure Box, every drawn Power Card must be used within the specified time.
Otherwise, it will be forcibly reclaimed by the treasure box — along with the user’s soul consumed completely.
The time limit is determined by the quality level:
Iron and copper cards need to be used within a year, silver three years, gold five years.
And the highest level star-level card deadline is between fifteen to fifty years, the Star-level Conquest in her hand has a fifteen-year limit.
A year ago, during the grand ceremony announcing the conquest policy, she publicly bestowed a precious "Eyes of Time" to Ron.
It seemed like a generous reward, but in reality, it was a helpless arrangement to consume a silver Luxury card.
Using Power Cards not only produces the corresponding effect, but also grants a precious wish fulfillment opportunity.
The degree of wish fulfillment is entirely dependent on the consumed card’s quality level.
The silver-level wish opportunity was carefully stored by her, waiting for the right moment to use it.
And now, she might just have the chance to use it.
"Golden Slaughter Card..."
She stared at the blood-scented card in her hand, a surge of impulse rising from the depths of her heart.
There’s no doubt about the power of this card on the battlefield.
For example, Cassandra could now directly designate that annoying Azaros from the Vital Republic.
In a one-on-one duel, take down the top commander hiding far in the rear.
The opponent’s abilities are all linked to the Star Sky Giant Beast, although the Energy level indeed reaches Great Wizard’s degree.
But without the Star Sky Giant Beast, he’s just a meal fit for consumption.
However, it would further strengthen the user’s slaughtering desire and violent tendencies.
Given her current severe degree of alienation.
Using this card might very well lead her to completely...
"And the Golden Luxury Card..."
She turned to the other card shimmering golden, the regal female figure on it seemed to beckon her.
With Cassandra’s current financial reserves, she couldn’t launch a luxury plan required by the golden Power Card.
The last time with the "Dimensional Anchor Technique" research, it only consumed one golden Luxury card but exhausted all her stock funds.
What’s even more worrisome is another urgent issue.
She still holds an even more precious star-level card — the "Conquest" Power Card.
This treasure, glowing with rainbow light, is the fundamental driving force behind her frenzied Otherworld conquests over the years.
Yet the completion progress of the star-level Conquest card is despairing.
Her progress bar hasn’t even filled halfway.
What’s more frightening is time.
She has already used up over twelve years.
In the remaining two years, completing such a massive conquest goal is almost an impossible mission.
Once the Conquest card expires, what awaits her is complete obliteration of her soul.
"Twelve years... A full twelve years..."
Cassandra’s voice began to tremble, the fear she had deeply buried finally started to appear.
The chains of time tightened more and more, while the roads available seemed increasingly scarce.
Every compromise, every "no choice", all pushed her into a deeper Abyss.
With each Power Card used, she further deviated from her original self, becoming a being she once despised.
The cabin fell into a deathly silence, only the weak crawling sound of flesh walls could be heard.
Cassandra quietly stood in front of the blood sacrifice altar, her purple eyes staring at those deceased seers.
"Tell me..."
As if compelled by some unknowable force, she softly spoke to those empty crystal skulls:
"If you really can foresee the future, then the ending you saw for me... what is it?"
The only response was silence.
.........
Meanwhile, in the special ritual room of the Abyssal Observation Station.
Ron and Uther were preparing for a special communication.
The ritual room’s setup had entirely changed, the originally simple space now covered with complex history Runes.
Walls, floors, even the ceiling were engraved with mysterious symbols representing past, present, and future.
These Runes were not static but slowly flowing, akin to a miniature version of the river of time.
"Gould’s situation is quite special."
Uther explained to Ron while adjusting the ritual array:
"Though his physical body perished long ago, the Void Remains are completely preserved by the specimen library of the Court of Truth. This means his consciousness still exists, merely in deep dormancy."
"Rather than summoning a historical projection, it’s more like establishing a cross-space consciousness link."
The old professor pointed to an ancient mirror in the center of the ritual:
"Using this ’Mirror of Time’, we can penetrate the specimen library’s space-time barrier and reach Gould’s Void Remains consciousness. I have already communicated with the Court of Truth."
Ron carefully observed the mirror.
The mirror surface presented a profound silver color, with dense cracks on the surface which were not damages but rather the trails of time’s flow.
As he gazed at the mirror, he could faintly see countless overlapping images, light and shadows of different eras converging in the mirror.
Yesterday, linking with the Eye of Observation, it seemed Uther used this same mirror.
"Let’s begin the preparation."
Uther approached the mirror and pressed his hands onto the mirror frame:
"This communication is very consuming; our time is limited."
With the infusion of Void Power, the Mirror of Time began emitting a faint humming sound.
The cracks on the mirror slowly lit up, like silver lightning dancing in the dark.
A few minutes later, blurry outlines started appearing in the mirror view.
It was a figure sitting in a gigantic library, surrounded by ancient tomes and scrolls.
Even across time and space, a profound scholarly aura could still be felt.
"Uther?"
Gould’s voice emanated from the mirror, carrying a sort of sluggishness from just waking up:
"You’re quite the rare visitor, what would compel you to expend Void Power to contact me?"
"Gould, I need your wisdom and insight."
Uther spoke straightforwardly.
