Chapter 15 Lumberjack Axe
Chapter 15 Lumberjack Axe
Upon arriving at the target area, Henry spotted a familiar figure.
That was Mattim, wildly wielding his bull-sword, seemingly enjoying himself immensely.
Henry was taken aback; what a coincidence, Matim was here too.
Although Mattim wasn't a great pirate, Henry had heard of his name long ago.
This man had a chilling hobby: murder.
He didn't enjoy the exhilarating battles of evenly matched opponents, but rather the one-sided slaughter. The weaker and more desperate his opponent was, the more he reveled in it.
Henry tried to walk around him, but out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of a girl falling down not far in front of Matim.
And that girl had braids.
"It can't be that much of a coincidence," Henry thought to himself.
But what if?
He couldn't let the curator down; he had to bring Natalie back.
Therefore, he could not ignore even the smallest possibility.
So Henry ran forward.
Matim had already raised his knife; his target was indeed the girl.
"Wait!" Henry shouted.
"Um?"
Matim turned around, his smile fading slightly, his eyes filled with displeasure. He was probably enjoying himself when he was interrupted.
"Leave this girl to me; don't kill her."
As he spoke, Henry walked between Matim and the girl.
Matim's boots provided the answer for their owner.
Henry was kicked away; the kick was so hard that he couldn't get up for a long time.
He looked up and found Mattim staring at him:
"Kid, don't forget who you are. You're nothing more than an ant at my feet."
After saying that, Mattim took another step forward and raised the knife at the girl.
Seeing this, Henry mustered all his strength and rushed out, drool uncontrollably dripping from the corner of his mouth.
He stood in front of the girl again and pulled out his axe.
"Hmph?" A meaningful smile appeared on Mattim's face. "I told you, if you dare to have any ulterior motives, I'll use you as bait!"
After speaking, he slashed his dagger at Henry.
Henry barely managed to block the attack with the flat of his axe, staggering back several steps before regaining his footing.
When he came to his senses, he found that his arms were numb and his body was trembling slightly with fear.
Henry then realized that he was afraid of Matim.
Although Matim is keen on bullying the weak, it doesn't mean he lacks strength.
On the contrary, Matim not only has ability, but he is extremely strong.
Henry had heard that Mattim's ship had attacked a royal vessel, and that after boarding the ship, he had miraculously killed all seven of the seven marines who attacked him without sustaining any injuries.
In contrast, Henry had spent the last six years with books and neglected his martial arts skills, not to mention that he was not a particularly good warrior to begin with.
In this life-or-death struggle, Henry probably has no chance of winning.
Perhaps it's not too late to run away now, but he can't run away.
Having finally found a clue about Natalie, Henry didn't want to lose it just like that.
Moreover, given that he is currently at odds with Matim, resolving the conflict will likely not be easy.
But once they can't board the ship, they can't catch up with Natalie, and the distance between them will only grow wider and wider.
"I must find Natalie," Henry told himself, "so I have no choice but to kill her."
Killing Mattim would not only preserve the clues, but also give them a chance to take control of the Soaring.
That way, Henry can decide which direction he wants to pursue.
But the current problem is, how can he defeat Matim in his current form?
You can't kill anyone by just defending, so you have to attack.
Henry was not so arrogant as to intend to challenge Matim to a duel, so he only had one chance to attack.
Then let's decide the outcome with one decisive blow!
Henry gripped the axe handle with both hands, held it behind his head, and leaped toward Matim.
The instant the target entered the attack range, Henry swung his axe down with all his might.
This was a desperate attack; Henry was full of openings.
The battle-hardened Mattim couldn't possibly be unaware, yet a smile appeared on his face.
That smile was the same one he wore when he was torturing innocent civilians; he seemed to find pleasure in Henry.
Instead of retaliating against Henry, Matim raised his Bullsword to parry.
His martial arts skills were indeed superb; he precisely found the point of leverage for the axe with his broadsword.
Simply return the same force, and you can successfully neutralize this attack...
however.
His knife was cleaved in two by Henry's axe.
The axe slammed deep into Matim's shoulder, followed by a kick from Henry.
Matim was kicked away, and the axe was pulled out.
Henry chased after him and found Matim lying on the ground, convulsing and struggling.
That was a fatal wound. Mattim was still holding the weapon, but he probably didn't have the strength to swing it anymore.
The curator once said that once you start, you can't hold back.
So Henry raised his axe to kill Matim.
With his last breath, Matim asked, "What kind of axe is this?"
"A logging axe."
Henry answered coldly.
The axe kissed Matim's neck, and the latter's head rolled several times.
He survived... Henry let out a long sigh of relief.
He stared at the blood-dripping axe in his hand, knowing that he had been saved by it this time.
The enchantment magic transformed this ordinary lumber axe into a magical weapon with extraordinary power.
Matim didn't expect this, which is why he was careless and was defeated by Henry.
Henry was eager to tell the curator how the Stargazer's enchantment magic had first helped him.
However, he quickly put his mind to it; he had other important things to do right now.
He turned around, and the girl with the dreadlocks, Katma, had already crawled quite a distance away.
Henry chased after him and caught him.
"Don't kill me! Please!" Katarma cried, waving her hands in supplication.
Have you seen a boy with orange-yellow hair lately?
"We've seen it! We've seen it! We've all seen it. He stole our money—mine, Amber's, Pampa's, and..."
Henry, unconcerned about the name of the girl's companion, interrupted:
"Do you know where that kid is right now?"
"have no idea……"
Kamat shook his head frantically, but immediately added,
"But he said he worked on a trading ship, and he may have gone back to the ship, which left port yesterday."
Where is that ship going?
"Heading south."
Henry released the girl, then picked up Matim's head and walked toward the Soaring.
After all, Chau Harbour is a major port. Although Baron Peyton did not know why he left with his army, it also meant that the other party could return at any time.
Therefore, the pirates dared not linger and had already returned to their ship with their spoils.
The ship was bustling with activity, filled with men's celebratory cheers and women's cries and groans.
Suddenly someone noticed the head in Henry's hand:
"What are you carrying?!"
The pirates surrounded him, and finally saw the head's face clearly. They roared in fury:
"You killed Matim!"
"That's right," Henry readily admitted.
Then the pirates drew their weapons, surrounded Henry, and began discussing what to do with him.
Before they could reach a conclusion, Henry casually tossed his head onto the deck, making a "thump, thump" sound.
Then Henry raised his axe and shouted:
"There is only one law on the sea: the strong live forever!"
"Now that the octopus is dead, I'll be your leader!"
The Soaring Spaceship spreads its wings before dawn.
