Mysterious: The Innate Sacred Body of Destiny

Chapter 4 Free Potions

Chapter 4 Free Potions

She was a remarkably beautiful woman, almost unrealistically so by the standards of that era.

"Uh, ma'am, I, I..." Lorne's Adam's apple bobbed twice, and for some reason he seemed a little hesitant.

This was the first time he had ever seen such a beautiful woman in this world. Long, silvery-white hair, a tall figure, and snow-white... cough cough.

Lorne, who considered himself a respectable person, forcibly withdrew his gaze. He felt a little strange, as he shouldn't usually be so out of control.

Could it be because of time travel?

"Hmm, don't be nervous." The lady opposite Lorne chuckled as she looked at his 'cute' expression.

"How kind of you!"

"I like you just the way you are." She said, looking at the orange cat and silver-haired lady beside her.

"what?"

She gently lifted a strand of hair in front of her, and Lorne could even see the beads of sweat on it.

"I heard you're looking for information about the 'Assassin's' potion?"

"You want to become an 'assassin'?"

Lorne nodded without denying it.

"Why? Because you think the name 'assassin' sounds cool and powerful?"

"Isn't that right?" Lorne retorted.

"Giggle"

Seeing Lorne's expression, she suddenly laughed even harder; she hadn't met such an innocent boy in a long time.

"I have it."

"What?"

"I have the 'Assassin' potion," the silver-haired woman said.

"How much?" Lorne turned his head away, avoiding eye contact with the woman; he felt a little uneasy.

"It's free, no money required."

"What!" Lorne exclaimed in disbelief.

He didn't believe in free lunches, especially since a bottle of Sequence 9 potion cost several hundred pounds, enough for an average family to live comfortably for over a decade.

It can't possibly be a perk for time travelers, right? It's like those NPCs in the starting village who give out equipment.

"It's free, of course, but there are conditions."

"Conditions?" Hearing this word, Lorne actually felt it was more normal; it would be suspicious if there were no conditions.

She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, her soft lips slowly parted, and she spoke in a tone that exuded a mature and sophisticated aura.

"That's right, I can give you the potion, but you have to join our organization."

"Are you from the church?" Lorne asked uncertainly.

"We are much better than those stingy people in the church."

"What's the name of your organization?"

"I'll tell you once you join."

Upon hearing this, Lorne did not immediately agree but instead lowered his head in thought.

"There are many beautiful older sisters like me in the organization," the silver-haired woman added, seeing Lorne's hesitant expression.

"Huh?" Hearing this, Lorne felt that this organization seemed a bit shady.

Could it be some kind of Hehuan Sect from another world, looking for some innocent-looking boys...?

"I can prepay," the silver-haired woman said, pulling out a bottle of clear liquid from somewhere.

"This is the 'Assassin' potion." With that, she took a few steps forward and stood in front of Lorne.

Lorne was startled, and the ingredients in his hands fell to the ground. The silver-haired woman shoved the bottle of liquid into Lorne's arms, and Lorne could even smell her fragrance.

"You, you just gave him to me like that."

"uh-huh."

"I haven't even said I wanted to join you yet."

"No rush. As I said, this is an advance payment. You can see it as our trust in you," the silver-haired woman said.

"Is that really okay?"

"This isn't usually the case, but I'm giving you a special treat today."

"How can I be sure this isn't true?" Lorne asked calmly, not letting his joy cloud his judgment.

"I have no need to use a fake one. If you're not comfortable with it, you can give the potion back to me."

"Or do you think I would lie to you?" the silver-haired woman said with a smile.

"I..." Lorne didn't know what to say for a moment, but he didn't let go of the potion in his arms.

Seeing Lorne's performance, the silver-haired lady smiled even more broadly, seemingly believing that Lorne drinking the potion was a done deal.

"Alright, here's the potion. If you've thought it through, drink it. I'll be here waiting for you at 8 PM tomorrow night." With that, she turned to leave.

She was certain that this novice in the mysticism before her would be unable to resist such temptation. She still needed to hurry and digest the potion.

"Wait...wait a minute." Lorne was about to stop her when he suddenly felt dazed. When he came to his senses, he found that he was the only one left in the alley, along with the orange cat eating the other fish that he had just dropped into.

Looking at the potion in his hand, he knew that what had just happened was definitely not a dream.

…………

The silver-haired witch, who had already walked several blocks, suddenly stopped.

Am I being too impatient?

"Is it really okay if I don't watch him drink the potion?" She pondered for a moment, thinking about Lorne's behavior.

"Never mind, it should be fine."

No one can resist the allure of extraordinary power, and this time is no exception.

…………

No. 69 Rose Street.

Lorne had returned to his room, but he didn't come straight back. Instead, he deliberately took a few detours and even went to another neighborhood. He wasn't sure if anyone was following him, but at least he didn't notice anything amiss.

The orange cat came back with it.

Actually, Lorne didn't intend to bring it back, but the orange cat that ate two of Lorne's fish has been following him ever since, and he can't shake it off.

Lorne had no choice but to bring it back.

"Let me make this clear first, if Mrs. Griffin finds out about you, then I won't be able to control you anymore," Lorne said seriously, picking up the orange cat and looking at its face.

Although Mrs. Griffin didn't explicitly say that pets were forbidden, Lorne was a little unsure, considering her hardcore nature, and planned to talk to her about it in a couple of days.

"This is the most important thing right now." Lorne stared at the potion on the desk in front of him.

To be fair, Lorne was happy to get a free potion, but he didn't like the way he got it.

Moreover, once he drank it, he would have to join an organization whose name he didn't even know yet. This made him hesitate about whether to drink the potion.

"If all else fails, return the potion to that lady tomorrow."

"But, it's free! Transmigrators always need some opportunities, right?" To be honest, Lorne was really reluctant to return the potion.

Lorne opened the drawer, opened the guide to transmigrators that he had written from memory, and began to read it again.

5. The officials in this world are very dangerous. They will treat you, the transmigrator, as a heretic and eliminate you. If you encounter them, be sure to pick up the pistol next to you to protect yourself.

……

10. There are many faiths in this world. Don't be confined to the orthodox church. Try to believe in other things. You may have unexpected gains.

Is this what they mean by an unexpected gain?

There's also point 5, which states that the government harbors hatred towards time travelers.

After much deliberation, Lorne decided to drink the "Assassin" potion. According to the guide for transmigrators, joining a secret organization shouldn't be a bad thing for a transmigrator.

The lady was so enthusiastic just now, so they probably aren't part of a particularly evil organization.

Although it was somewhat reckless, surely time travelers would have some kind of stroke of luck?

With that in mind, Lorne decided not to hesitate any longer and reached for the bottle containing the 'Assassin' potion.

However, the moment his hand touched the potion, he suddenly became dazed.

He felt a strange sense of unease or disharmony, as if fate was preventing him from getting along.

"What was I doing just now?" Lorne snapped out of his daze.

"Oh right, potions, I want to drink potions."

Looking at the potion in front of him, Lorne picked up the bottle and was about to pour it into his mouth.
