Chapter 761: The Site of the Car Accident
Chapter 761: The Site of the Car Accident
Melody Thorne felt somewhat confused, "Jared, have you been here before?"From his selection of location to setting up the tent, it seemed as though he had a clear understanding of everything around here.
"Yes," Jared’s gaze fell on the narrow path skirting the cliff, the temperature in his eyes gradually turning stern and chilly.
"What’s wrong?"
Jared led her a few steps forward, and Melody noticed an abandoned luxury car in the pitch-black gorge, which had rusted over, left here for an unknown amount of time.
"Could this be..." Melody faintly thought of something, "Is this the place where Dad Quinn had the accident?"
Jared lit a cigarette, letting the white smoke rise, blurring his cold and sharp features, before saying, "He died from a health relapse, unable to recognize anyone, eventually losing all sanity!"
"Then why did you bring me here? Are you trying to tell me that during your relapses, you also lose sanity? Maybe even end up like this?" Melody’s expression was somewhat saddened.
"No," Jared wrapped his hand around her slender waist, "I haven’t been here for a long time. Since I’m here, I thought I’d check it out."
"Then let’s go down and take a look," Melody stared at the car, "Was this the car you and Titus were in during the accident?"
"No, it was another car," Jared stared at the car without moving. After so many years since the accident, he had only arranged for Dad Quinn’s body to be taken out but had never looked at this car, nor gone down to see it.
"Let’s go, let’s take a look," Melody attempted to go down.
Jared enveloped her waist with one arm, picking her up effortlessly and walked down.
Melody gazed at the car, looking through the shattered glass window, vaguely seeing something inside, dark and resembling a shape of a person.
"Jared," Melody suddenly exclaimed in horror.
"What’s wrong?"
"Is there someone in there?" Melody’s voice trembled, perhaps because she had a close encounter with death and suddenly felt an extreme fear.
Jared squinted his eyes, soothing her with his large hand, "No, you saw wrong, there’s nothing inside."
"Really?"
"Yes," Jared responded, his dark pupils piercing through the car window, revealing...
"Let’s go first."
"Okay," Melody’s heart was pounding as she took a step forward, suddenly screamed, and nearly fell.
Jared, startled by her sudden reaction, felt as though his heart would stop, looking down at her foot, "What’s wrong?"
"I stubbed my toe, let’s hurry up and go."
Jared squatted down under the moonlight to check her foot, only to see something familiar, a white object.
Others might not recognize it, but he did. This was an invention from the collaboration between the Quinn Family and other families, released on the market, a portable camera for military use.
Back then it caused a significant stir.
"What’s wrong? What is that?"
"Nothing, just a camera that’s been left here for who knows how long," Jared stood up and carried her back to the tent with broad strides.
Soon, Jared signaled Leon Rivers to come over and deal with the car and the person inside.
As Melody fell asleep, she heard a rumbling sound, merely thinking she was dreaming.
