Chapter 904 - 11: World Ascension
Avalon Barrier.
As Duncan grasped the remnants of Tiamat’s divine soul with one hand, torrents of original sin’s malevolent power transformed into black sludge and surged towards his arm. This black sludge possessed an immensely strong corrosive and penetrating force. Even with Duncan confronting it in his Great Angel form, it still gradually polluted and infiltrated his soul.
However, Duncan’s expression showed not a trace of panic; in fact, after sensing it, there was even a faint hint of delight!
This corruption.
It’s simply wonderful!
Duncan sensed the desires on Tiamat’s fragmented soul, centered on the most primal drive of reproduction, entwined with the world’s malevolence, a fusion of numerous desires. The most fundamental forces were simple: one being the biological instinct for primal reproduction, the other her wrath to destroy the world.
Coincidentally, for Duncan, both were things he could digest.
Anger is also a very important emotion.
If even anger is lost, then one is truly completely law-driven.
As the black sludge of original sin infiltrated Duncan’s body, his Great Angel form began to transform, losing its aura of holiness, acquiring a dark golden tint, as if resembling the fallen Lucifer. Yet, while Lucifer embodied pride, he embodied anger, sourced from Tiamat’s wrath.
The angelic aspect was polluted.
Fallen Angel form.
But this was not enough.
Duncan guided this power to merge into his consciousness, even actively channeling a strand of divine thought from his dimensional self, absorbing the multitude of desires within.
Ah!
Desire.
Human desire.
Beastly desire.
By now, Duncan’s appearance had wholly transformed; a pair of blood-hued angel wings slowly unfurled. After digesting the black sludge emanating from Tiamat’s being, he appeared somewhat rejuvenated, exuding a powerful life force.
The intertwining of human and beastly nature was ultimately fully digested by Duncan’s true form, becoming part of his soul.
"Can one really supplement humanity like this?"
Above the dimension.
Duncan’s expression was slightly surprised. He felt a primal drive; after absorbing the beastly and human nature from Tiamat, he directly suppressed his divine aspect, restoring many of the emotions that had progressively dwindled.
The principle was not complex. It’s akin to a person falling ill, growing weak, causing sexual desire to gradually fade or even vanish.
When one lives too long and experiences too much, entering old age also leads to many emotions becoming increasingly indifferent.
This is the loss of human nature, the erosion of humanity.
But Duncan was the exact opposite; he was too strong.
With Duncan mastering more and more domain laws and divine positions, his divine aspect also became increasingly strong, replacing the weakening and suppression of human and beastly nature.
If a Divine Spirit is dominated by human and beastly aspects, they can easily become corrupt.
But if completely dominated by the divine aspect, then they deeply integrate with the law, and ultimately, the divine aspect overwhelms the human aspect, becoming an existence perceived by the world as almost emotionless. Duncan himself showed signs of his human aspect gradually waning, but now, having absorbed the black sludge from Tiamat’s soul, it seemed as if he had re-energized his humanity.
His emotions became increasingly distinct, and his human desires also revived.
Some beings position themselves as gods, rejecting all of a mortal’s joy, anger, sorrow, and delight, even gradually erasing human desires. But Duncan was entirely different; he never rejected these; his emotional indifference was largely due to his divine nature advancing too quickly.
This surge of life force made him feel as though he had returned to his youth, that human impulse born of burning emotions.
Gods, too, can decay.
Though not in body, the soul can become dusty, and without a constant influx of life force, it can gradually fade.
The laws Duncan governs are relatively gentle; if he integrated the Death Law, he would become like every Death God in history.
"So, I also need the Life Domain to maintain my vitality."
"I need the emotion domain to sustain my humanity’s anchor?"
An anchor point is essential.
Duncan needed to consider what kind of god he wanted to become. If, like Mitra, where even the self could split into personas, then nothing was important; without humanity, there was none as long as the self always existed.
He had seen many Divine Spirits before, some who forsook their human self, and some who held steadfastly to it.
For Duncan’s personality, any divine facet not under control would be like a split personality.
Let alone like the godly personas of Athena, Minerva, and Suliss, each splitting into three gods with distinct personalities.
"This wave of humanity should last a long time."
Ascending to godhood, like ascending to demonhood, essentially does not differ much.
Even the Enchanting Demon Queen of the Bottomless Abyss, Meikanshute, values her vigorous sexual desire the most because its waning signifies her gradual decay.
A tall, voluptuous soul’s silhouette was drawn into Duncan’s dimension.
—The remnant soul of Tiamat, [Mother Goddess of Creation]?!
The divine soul that Duncan extracted was in human form, yet after becoming corrupt, it also featured a beastly form, akin to a fusion of dragon and great serpent, requiring an infusion of human and beastly nature to awaken.
The human form of Tiamat possessed a pair of enormous dragon horns, adorned in a luxurious yet revealing robe that exposed maternal features, representing the image from ancient Mesopotamian ceremonies, with prominent breasts and long, strong legs symbolizing the legacy of a matriarchal society. Her face reflected in shadows, distinct from the maternal and loving visage of the transformed Avalon fairy, Tiamat’s expression carried a hint of evil and allure, with blood-red pupils revealing only indifference and rage, the essence of beastly nature, as it outweighed her humanity, leading to her corruption.
