Chapter 14: The Prelude to the First Invasion - Part 1

Steve: "Lee, how much do you know about Loki who stole the Tesseract? Fury only told me he doesn't seem to be from Earth."

Vega: "Loki, the god of evil, is a member of the royal family of the Aesir. A few months ago..."

Steve interrupted in surprise, "Wait, the Aesir? The Aesir from Norse mythology?"

Vega nodded: "That's right, Norse mythology is largely correct. The World Tree exists, the Nine Realms exist, and the gods exist. The entire Nine Realms are ruled by the Aesir, and there are many inhabited planets in the universe under their protection."

"The Aesir are a god-level civilization, and they follow a development path that combines the extraordinary with technology."

The Rainbow Bridge in Asgard can reach anywhere in the universe and can even be used as a planet-destroying weapon.

Odin, the king of the gods, is a being of the level of a heavenly father. Such beings are extremely rare in the entire universe, and each one can influence the course of the entire cosmos.

"By the way, god-level civilizations don't participate in the ranking of cosmic powers; they disdain participating in such a boring game."

You might not have a good grasp of this, but the Kree who invaded Earth in 95 were one of the three great empires in the universe, and their strongest ruler was Ronan the Accuser.

Ronan the Accuser, Captain Marvel Carol Danvers, and Thor are all near-Celestial level beings; they have absolutely no chance against Odin.

Carol Danvers should now be close to or have already become a Godfather-level being, but she is still no match for Odin.

Odin's divine power is increasing every moment. Having suffered a severe injury in his early years and never recovered, he can no longer withstand that terrifying power. His life is already on the countdown, but he is most terrifying now.

"Loki is not Odin's sworn brother, but Odin's adopted son. He enjoys the same status as Crown Prince Thor, and is even more favored by Odin and Frigga."

"Some time ago, Odin, the king of the gods, wanted to pass the throne to Thor, the god of thunder, but Loki secretly sabotaged the coronation ceremony. He even instigated Thor to lead a few people into Jotunheim, the kingdom of the ice giants, and almost caused Thor and his companions to die at the hands of Laufey, the king of the ice giants."

Odin personally rescued them, then banished the impetuous Thor to New Mexico. Odin then entered Odin's Sleep, and the power of Asgard fell into Loki's hands.

"In order to prevent Thor from returning to Asgard, Loki sent the Destroyer to Earth to kill him."

To prove himself superior to Thor, he personally murdered his own father, Laufey, the Frost Giant King, and even used the Bifrost to attempt to destroy Jotunheim.

Thor, returning to Asgard, managed to stop Loki in time, but half of Jotunheim still became a magma inferno, with the Frost Giants and other ice giant races suffering heavy casualties and nearly being wiped out.

After the plot failed, Loki jumped into the temporal turbulence beneath the Rainbow Bridge. Everyone thought he was dead, and the King of Gods, Queen of the Gods, and Thor were heartbroken for a long time.

Vega briefly introduced Steve to the situation of the Aesir and Loki. This was not only for Steve, but also for Nick Fury, who had been listening in, and the high-ranking officials of the five great nations.

Revealing Loki's past actions was meant to emphasize his dangerousness, while mentioning Asgard's power was meant to make everyone understand that no matter what Loki might do next, he cannot die at the hands of humans.

Vega lit a cigarette and stopped talking. Steve fell silent. Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Banner in the laboratory, and the five Security Council representatives who had also heard Vega's words after being urgently notified all fell silent as well.

Just as the crisis was beginning, they were told they could not kill the culprits who were endangering humanity, which made everyone feel extremely angry and desperate.

But there's nothing we can do; that's reality.

After a long silence, Nick Fury pushed open the door and entered: "Lee, how did you get this information?"

It wasn't too surprising that Vega knew about the Aesir and the Nine Realms; he was, after all, a mysterious figure.

But how did Loki know that the evil god disrupted Thor's coronation ceremony, and what happened in Jotunheim, Asgard, and Earth afterward? Where did he go during the months he disappeared?

Vega, who was well-prepared, remained calm: "I have a good relationship with the dwarves of Nidavellir. Some of the magical items I sell to you were crafted with their help."

Nick Fury: "How did you leave Earth?"

Vega: "The nine realms are separated by billions of light-years, but the World Tree connects these nine realms together."

The World Tree's trunk and its branches that crisscross the world allow for rapid travel to other worlds, but these worlds were constantly at war with each other until Odin unified the nine realms and sealed all the passages, at which point a degree of peace was restored.

However, the World Tree is too large, and its branches are constantly growing, so some hidden paths still exist.

"The secret passage is not a secret. For example, more than a thousand years ago, the Frost Giants found a secret passage connecting to Earth and invaded the Earth, wanting to return the Earth to the Ice Age. They were eventually defeated by the army led by Odin, the King of Gods."

I also possess a secret passage, but I chose to befriend the hospitable dwarves instead.

Seeing that Nick Fury seemed about to say something, Vega continued, "Don't even think about me handing over this secret passage to you. With examples of Native Americans and other countries in Africa, I know exactly what you're up to."

"The nine realms are forbidden from attacking each other; this is an ironclad rule established by the Aesir gods!"

Ah, and while dwarves aren't good at fighting, they are extremely skilled at forging. Do you know what they use to smelt materials?

Neutron star—they captured a neutron star and will use it as a forging furnace.

Nick Fury fell silent. He didn't have a clear understanding of how powerful god-level civilizations and Godfather-level beings were from Vega's simple description, but he did have some knowledge of neutron stars, one of the most dangerous celestial bodies in the universe.

The dwarves who can capture and utilize neutron stars all need to submit to the Aesir gods. Just how powerful are the Aesir gods?

His right hand slipped into the pocket of his trench coat and grasped a strangely shaped pager. He wanted to call Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, but after a moment's hesitation, he let go.

Vega said that Captain Marvel was no match for Odin, the king of the gods. Deep down, he didn't want to believe it, but Vega had no reason to lie to him about this.

He had been observing Vega for several years and knew that Vega would not do anything that would harm humanity as a whole.
